Great news!! I hope the head has almost healed by now. Now we’re giving another try at keeping him without the cap… Then on the 16th we’re seeing the neurosurgeon and the derm, once again. Ari is starting to walk… HELP! we DO need a helmet!

Best of luck for your appointment. I’ll be thinking of you!!! How exciting that he’s walking but scary too because of his head. Fingers crossed he has good balance!

    Hi Anna

I sent you a long message on here a few weeks ago but its not showing for some reason. Will try again….

I have 2 children with aplasia cutis. My first son Hayden is now 4 and is awaiting plastic surgery this year to fix his big bald patch!! My second son Ryan, also had it but died last year at 4 months old (from a heart condition). We have been through the dressings, the worry, the appointments twice now and Hayden is doing really well. He had a large bony defecit to his skull too but that eventually closed over completely (I think he was almost 3) and his “scab” was healed well enough to go without dressings by about 6 months.

If you’d like to chat I’d be happy to. We live in Papamoa and I only wish I’d had someone in/or who was in the same boat to talk to while we were going through it in the early days (or even now!!).

take care and congratulations on your little girl, she’s beautiful!

    Leesa
